Privacy Policy
1Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Automaton, Inc. (“Automaton,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal information in connection with our services, including our automated SMS/text-message notification program (the “Service”). By using the Service or providing your information, you agree to the practices described here.
2Information we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the Service:
- Contact and identity data — your name, email address, and mobile phone number.
- Consent records — your opt-in to receive text messages, including related timestamps.
- Message data — the content and delivery metadata of the notifications we send you.
- Technical logs — limited records generated by our messaging provider to deliver and secure messages.
We do not collect sensitive categories of personal information through the SMS program.
3How we use information
- To deliver the operational and account notifications you have requested.
- To confirm your enrollment and honor STOP and HELP requests.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable law.
- To keep records of consent as required by carriers and applicable regulations.
4SMS & text messaging — mobile opt-in
When you opt in to receive SMS text messages from Automaton, we collect your mobile number and your consent to be contacted. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, HELP for assistance, or START to re-subscribe.
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
5How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers who help us deliver messages (for example, our telecommunications and SMS delivery provider), who are bound by confidentiality obligations and may use the data only to provide services to us;
- when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Automaton or others; or
- in connection with a business transfer, subject to this Policy.
Consistent with Section 4, mobile opt-in and consent data is never shared with third parties for their own marketing.
6Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain required consent and delivery records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations, after which we delete or de-identify it.
7Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information and limit access to it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your data protected.
8Your choices and rights
You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at smcdonough@automatonconsulting.com.
9Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for business use by adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above, and your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Terms of Service
1Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the services provided by Automaton, Inc. (“Automaton,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), including our automated SMS/text-message notification program (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2The services
Automaton provides automated operational and account notifications, including by SMS/text message, to recipients who have opted in. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
3SMS/text program terms
By opting in, you consent to receive automated text messages from Automaton at the mobile number you provided. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help, or START to re-subscribe. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase.
4Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and not to misuse it, interfere with it, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems.
5Intellectual property
The Service and its content, excluding your own information, are owned by Automaton or its licensors and are protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding.
6Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
7Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Automaton will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
8Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Automaton harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
9Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Illinois.
10Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, as indicated by the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
